    Just a loose idea:
    I think if fingerprint could be converted to a hash and presented to the OS, it could perfectly fit as a strong password. Then you should be able to encrypt your home using two password (just like you encrypt mail to several people using GPG) – your regular password and the fingerprint hash.

    These instructions also work for Mint 16 with Cinnamon.

    The final stage will require the following login file to be edited:

    /etc/pam.d/mdm
